This time last week we were just arriving at the SPS IPC Drives exhibition in Nuremberg. After months of working on our showcase, the Blockchain Train, we were excited to bring it to the finish line and open up the conversation about how Blockchain can be used to enable automation in supply chain and logistics.

Biggest visitor turnout to date

The exhibition this year had an enormous turn-out of both exhibitors and visitors. The biggest SPS IPC Drives to date included 16 halls explored by a record-setting 70,264 visitors; the Minister of Finance for the German state of Hessen opened event calling it a central platform for industrial automation. Industry 4.0 and digital transformation were big themes throughout the exhibition. Hall 6 was reserved completely for software and IT firms, showing the growing cooperation of automation and IT.

faizod on Blockchain and automation

Olaf Stöwer and Christina Seifert represented faizod at our stand and on Thursday Stöwer gave a presentation on Blockchain as an innovative technology for the automation industry.

For us the exhibition was full of great conversations revolving around our showcase. The Blockchain Train ran as intended, passing through and sending signals to various stations on a closed track, for 3 days straight. The use case showed how aspects of security or cost allocation, as well as asset management can be mapped using Blockchain. It illustrated the distributed nature of Blockchain as well as the independence of the system as it reacted automatically in real-time.

We’re looking forward to staying in contact with our visitors and are thankful to the organisers for a successful event!
